The series has been in published since 1949. ISSN 0066-6858

There are two types of studies published: sources and research materials, in particular those coming from the original, historical and contemporary field exploration, for example: studies of wedding ceremonies (studies by Oleszczuk, Olesiejuk, Bąk, etc.) and components for the study of material culture (eg. clothing or blacksmithing). In previously published volumes of the Ethnographic Archive there also appeared various indexes and bibliographic breakdowns. In recent years the editors of the series undertook to systematically publish results of scientific conferences of Polish Ethnological Society, which is part of the annual meeting of its members.
