THE EXILE LIBRARY

“The Exile Library” (pol. „Biblioteka Zesłańca”) - since 1991

Series published since 1991. ISSN 1899-0266

The aim is to publish a series of works devoted to the history of the Poles in Siberia, the Far East, Kazakhstan and in other regions of the former Soviet Union. In addition to the so-called camp literature it also includes reprints of Siberian deportees’ diaries from nineteenth century, monographs dedicated to the history of Poles beyond the Urals, anthologies devoted work camps of Karaganda, Kolyma, Norilsk and Vorkuta, books about the escapes from the exile and other studies of the contribution of distinguished Polish researchers of Syberia - Benedykt Dybowski, Bronisław Piłsudski, Wacław Sieroszewski and others. The Exile Library is the only Polish series specializing in publishing this kind of literature. For special merits in this regard it has been twice awarded (1991 and 1992) the prize of the Józef Piłsudski Institute of America.
